1: Patience Is Vital
Patience is my top travel tip. Don't sweat things that you
can't control. Life is too short to be angry and irritable all the time while
you are travelling. Missed your bus? No problems, there will be another one.
ATM ran out of money? Good! Take an unplanned road trip to the next city and check it out. I know it can be hard sometimes but just breathe and remind yourself that it can be really bad.
2: Get Up Early to Avoid Crowds
Wake up before sunrise to have the best attraction for you while protecting the large crowds of visitors. It’s also a magical time for photos because of the soft light scattered, and it’s often easy to get in touch with local people preparing for their day.
3: Observe Life Around You
If you really want to feel like driving somewhere, one of my
favourite travel tips are to spend a few hours sitting in a park or on a busy street corner just watching daily life unfold in front of you.
Slow down your train of thought and pay attention to the details around you. The Smells, colours, human interactions, and sounds. It's a form of meditation - and you'll see things you never realized before.
4: Laugh at Yourself Sometimes
You will definitely look like a fool most of the time when
you visit new places. Instead of being embarrassed, laugh at yourself. Do not
be afraid to twist, and do not take life too seriously. Relax!
At one point, a bus full of Guatemalans burst out laughing when I forced the bus driver to stop so that I could rush to the sidewalk. Getting back on the bus and laughing with them has given me new friends throughout the trip!
5: Slow down to enjoy your trip
Please do not attempt to complete 6 countries in 6 weeks of travel. All good things happen when you take the time to examine yourself. You will learn about activities that are not in your manual and meet people who are willing to show you.
6: Occasionally Volunteers
Make it a point to donate some of your time to the right projects as you travel. Not only is this a very rewarding experience, but you will often learn more about the world and its people while making new friends.
7: Take lots of epic travel photos
Pay attention to this travel tip. You can only see these
places and meet these people once in your life. Remember them forever with so
many pictures! Don't worry about looking like a "guest". Beautiful
pictures are the main reminders.
They are inexpensive, easy to share, and they do not take up space on your luggage. Take a lot of your photos with other people too, they will be more important than your postcard shots later. Just remember that once you’ve got your gun, it’s important to get out from behind the lens and enjoy the view.
8: Don't be discouraged
Nothing is impossible. If you have trouble getting somewhere or doing something, do not give up. You haven't found the best solution yet or found the right person. Do not listen to those who say no.
9: Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
Challenge yourself to try things that usually give you anxiety. The more you do this, the more anxious you will be. Not a traveller? Keep going up more. Having trouble communicating with strangers? Talk to everyone. Fear of strange foods? Eat the weirdest thing you can find.
10: Maintain an Open Mind
Do not judge others' ways of life or customs if they are
different from yours. Listen to ideas that you do not agree with. It is
arrogant to think that your opinion is right and that other people are wrong.
Practice empathy and put yourself in someone else's shoes.
